When you think about your overall health, the health of your ears is usually an afterthought. However, ear care is very important. Not only are your ears part of your five senses, but the inner ear can also have significant impacts on your ability to maintain your balance.
Here are 5 easy ways to consider when taking care of your ears:
#1 Dry your ears properly after bathing or swimming, as excess moisture can cause bacterial build-up and compromise the ear canal.
#2 Avoid inserting the cotton swab deeply when cleaning as this can seriously damage your ear canal and eardrum.
#3 Avoid listening to overly loud music in the car as noise in a confined space will put undue pressure on your ears and can damage the nerves and other sensitive parts of the inner ear.
#4 Try to keep the sound as low as possible when watching TV, listening to the radio, or using earbuds and headphones.
#5 Add hearing screening to your regular checkup, as it can help you diagnose balance disorders and hearing loss, or prevent communication, learning and development problems in children.
Don’t take actions for granted, start taking care of your ears. If you think you might be experiencing symptoms of hearing loss, we recommend that you consult your doctor or Otolaryngologist/ENT Specialist.
