The sinuses are hollow spaces found in the bones of the face, more precisely between your eyes, and behind your forehead and cheekbones. They are normally filled with air, but can be blocked if swollen, causing a sinus infection.
Here are some tips to help you relieve your sinus symptoms:
#1. Use a nasal saline spray to flush your nasal passages, reduce sinus pressure and keep them from drying out.
#2. Apply a warm compress, such as a washcloth to your face (nose and forehead) for at least 10 to 15 minutes to help relieve pressure and open your sinus passages.
#3. Use a humidifier at home to reduce humidity and keep the air moist. This will help to keep your nasal passages hydrated and relieve congestion.
#4. Drink plenty of water to be fully hydrated and help the membrane function properly, keeping the mucus thin.
#5. Get enough rest but avoid lying on your back as your sinuses may feel more blocked. Instead, try lying on your side to help you breathe better.
If your sinus symptoms are not getting better, we recommend that you consult your doctor or an Otolaryngologist/ENT Specialist for your treatment options.
